Childcare Success Stories
Finding Inspiration in the Success of Childcare Programs Around CT
This page captures the success of grantees who transformed their spaces with the LISC CT OEC Facilities Grant Program dollars.

The Cozy Den Childcare

The Cozy Den Daycare identified a major health and safety concern with their porch/deck area that posed a threat of closing the facility and stopping programmatic operations. The deck hung above children as they entered the daycare, which presented the possibility of chipped wood falling onto a child or damaged flooring causing an accident during play times.
The renovation allowed The Cozy Den Daycare to fully renovate the
deck, allowing for a safer entrance to the daycare and play space for the kids, whose learning and indoor play spaces are located on the second floor. The renovation also allowed furniture and fixtures to be purchased and rearranged, creating a more open and safe play area.

Little Superstars

Little Superstars Family Daycare in West Haven is undergoing an exciting transformation. Owner Yanerys Esperanza Aziz, who has been providing care for children in her community since 2007, has recently completed a major renovation project funded by the Early Childhood Facilities Construction and Renovation grant.
With the grant money, Yanerys replaced the old, deteriorating wood entry door with a new fiberglass door, effectively stopping the water from leaking into the basement. Now that the project is complete, Yanerys is filled with joy. Reflecting on the transformation of
her space, she said “I never imagined that since 2007, when I opened my daycare, my space would ever look like this,” she shared that she was wiping away tears of happiness as she unpacked boxes and admired the beautiful new space that she was able to create with the grant money. “My kids love it so much that they never want to leave, not even to go upstairs to eat.”
